THE 2016 North Wales sheepdog trials season kicked off in snowy conditions in Llanystumdwy.

Saturday's Porthmadog and Llanystumdwy trial was hosted by Mr and Mrs Davies at Gwynfryn farm.

Despite early morning snow, 73 runs were made during the day.

The judge was Eric Williams, Tregarth. OPEN: 1) Aled Owen, Llangwm, Cap, 10pts; 2) JR Griffith, Tal y Sarn, Sam, 11pts; 3) Alwyn Williams, Penmachno, Max, 15pts; 4) Frank Roberts, Llandegla, Jim, 17pts; 5) Gwyn Lightfoot, Llandegla, Taff, 18pts; 6) Rhion Owen, Anglesey, Gel, 19pts. 2ND CLASS: 1) Frank Roberts, Llandegla, Jim, 17pts (comb); 2) Gwyn Lightfoot, Llandegla, Taff, 18pts (comb); 3) Gwenllian Pyrs, Padog, Eryri Nan, 23pts.
