 THROUGH "REPLANNING YOUR LIFE" PROJECT
MIAMI, Feb. 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Shearson Lehman Brothers today announced that it has joined with the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce to implement a year-long program to assist Dade County employees who are jobless due to company layoffs, downsizing or bankruptcies.
The program, "Replanning Your Life," begins with a motivational seminar entitled "The Success Formula for the 90s" on Feb. 11 from 9 a.m. to noon at the Omni International Hotel. The seminar is free of charge; attendees must register by calling the chamber at 305-374-8565.
"There is a pressing need in our community to help these people, many of whom are being forced to make career changes for the first time," said Al Fasulo, Shearson Lehman Brothers division manager.
In addition to the seminar, Shearson Lehman Brothers is fielding a volunteer team of specially trained financial consultants who will offer complimentary financial advice on issues confronting those experiencing lay-offs, severance lump sums and early retirement options.
"This program will be a great boon to Miami's economic recovery efforts," said Chamber President Bill Cullom. "Throughout the year we expect to provide a variety of programs to help get Miami residents back to work, and nothing could be more important than helping these people get a handle on their short- and long-term finances."
