SHAREHOLDERS' LAWSUIT AGAINST AMERICREDIT DISMISSED

FORT WORTH, Texas, May 19 /PRNewswire/ -- AmeriCredit Corp. (NYSE: ACF) (formerly URCARCO, INC.) announced today that a shareholders' lawsuit against the company, its directors and certain officers, its independent public accountants and its underwriters has been dismissed. All claims alleging securities fraud and violations of the federal securities laws were dismissed with prejudice. In his 15 page ruling, U.S. District Judge Joe Kendall said the plaintiffs failed to provide any facts to support their claims. Plaintiffs' state law claims were dismissed for want of jurisdiction.
The shareholders' lawsuit was a consolidated complaint resulting from four lawsuits separately filed in 1990 in which plaintiffs sought recovery for alleged violations of securities and other laws by the company, its directors and certain officers and the other defendants purportedly arising out of the company's 1989 initial public offering, its 1990 public offering, other public statements and the company's SEC reports.
Clifton H. Morris Jr., the chairman and chief executive officer of AmeriCredit, said, "The ruling confirms the company's earliest feelings about the lawsuits, and we are very gratified with the Court's actions."
