SHARED MEDICAL SYSTEMS ISSUES ANNOUNCEMENT

MALVERN, Pa., Oct. 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Shared Medical Systems Corporation (SMS) (NASDAQ-NMS: SMED) announced today that its vice-chairman, Jack Ernsberger, and its president, Graham King, have resigned to pursue, separately, other opportunities.
The resignations are unrelated to each other and are the result of individual discussions that have been ongoing for some time. While both gentlemen contributed to SMS' progress during the past several years, the company said it believed that their departures will not have an adverse effect on the company's business. Both gentlemen will serve as consultants for the company for an indefinite period.
The company also announced that senior vice president Marv Cadwell has been promoted to executive vice president.
