A VICAR is resigning from the clergy after being sexually harassed by another cleric.

Rev Dr Tanya Jenkins, who has been on sick leave for nearly two years, will leave her post as Vicar of Llangefni and Tregaean on Anglesey at the end of the month.

The 37-year-old is quitting despite her case prompting Church in Wales bishops to introduce new guidelines on handling complaints.

But she remains concerned that the cleric who admitted three allegations of sexual harassment was later assisted by senior Church leaders to find another parish.

``I have been deeply disappointed by the actions and attitudes of a number of high ranking officials,'' she said.

``I have attempted to bring pressure to bear upon the Church authorities to admit that there are considerable shortcomings in the way in which complaints of clergy transgressions are handled.''

Last night Dr Jenkins spoke exclusively to the Daily Post about her ordeal, her shock decision to quit and her hopes for the future.
