SEX DOCTOR: He's got a sauce.

Byline: Dr Catherine Hood

Dear Dr Cath

MY boyfriend insists on using his saucy pet nickname for me in public - and I'm so embarrassed. We have been together for four months and as our relationship has gone on he has got more touchy feely in public and calls me by the name in front of friends. I've asked him to stop but he just laughs.

IT'S common for couples to have pet names for each other. But they are usually for private use only and I'm not surprised you feel embarrassed.

I can only assume he is so proud of having you as his partner that he wants to share his exuberance and with the whole world.

People vary in how comfortable they are with public displays of affection. Obviously he's misreading your tolerance. Make it clear how uncomfortable it makes you feel.

If he continues to embarrass you then perhaps he's not the man for you.
