SEVERN TRENT ANNOUNCES NEW CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER OF CAPITAL CONTROLS COMPANY, INC.

 RADNOR, Pa., Jan. 6 /PRNewswire/ -- Severn Trent (U.S.), Inc. (STUS), the U.S.-based management and service headquarters of Severn Trent Plc, today announced the appointment of James A. Elsner as chief executive officer of its subsidiary Capital Controls Company, Inc.
 In announcing the appointment, Thomas P. Gorman, president of STUS, said, "Elsner's charge will be to continue the firm's commitment to be the recognized world leader in the design, application and supply of specialized water treatment, measurement and control technologies in disinfection, oxidation and related processes." This means that Capital Controls will continue to remain the only company with competence across the board in all disinfection technologies and in on-line water quality monitoring.
 Elsner brings more than 20 years of experience in technology and industry, including 10 years in a variety of management positions at General Electric. Most recently, he was vice president-Engineering Systems and Capital Improvements at Campbell Soup Company where he had worldwide responsibility for capital management, engineering, packaging and environmental affairs. He holds a B.S. in engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy, plus an M.S. in engineering and an M.B.A. from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
 The appointment of Elsner is a continuing step forward in Severn Trent's commitment to be a world leader in the water business as a successful, international corporation founded on a strong, home-water base.
