SET YOURSELF FREE: RENT AN RV

FAIRFAX, Va., May 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Ever dream about touring the country on your own schedule in an RV? How can travel enthusiasts try the RV lifestyle before making a purchase? The answer is by renting an RV. People who have rented RV's in the past have said the following:
"It was great for our hunting trip -- I'll never sleep on damp ground again."
"Cost wise, it compared favorably to renting a cottage at the shore."
"The chance to just ramble, with no fixed schedule -- that's a real attraction."
There are as many reasons to rent an RV as there are holidays, events and celebrations. Renting an RV can be your key to:
 -- Family reunions
 -- Visiting national parks
-- Taking the children to the state fair
-- The big homecoming football game
-- Enjoying the Atlantic or Pacific beaches during the summer
-- Antiquing or pursuing other collectibles
 -- Fall in New England
 -- Visiting historic landmarks
 -- A mountain get-away
 -- Honeymoons
 -- Ski weekends
 -- Auto races
 -- Ballooning
 -- Air shows
 -- Fishing and/or hunting excursions
-- Equestrian events of any nature: horse shows, steeplechase,
rodeo, fox hunts, you name it
-- Guest quarters for out-of-town visitors
 -- Scouting get-togethers
Renters are often individuals or families who do not have the opportunity to travel often, so the purchase of a motorhome or travel trailer is not warranted. RV rentals are great for apartment or condo dwellers who do not have ample parking space for the units. And, renting RVs means the rental company takes care of the cleaning, storage, and major maintenance up-keep of the unit, leaving the renter more free time.
The cost of renting an RV for a week ranges from $175 to $500 for trailers and $450 to $1,000 for motorhomes. Prices for a rental unit may vary based on the mileage a renter puts on the RV, and the time of the year that one rents.
Finding an RV to rent is easy. The RV Rental Association offers a handy rental directory, "Who's Who in RV Rentals," for $7.50. This directory lists over 215 member rental operators across North America and Europe. Information includes type of units rented at the location -- motorhome, mini motorhome, travel trailer, fifth wheel, tent camper, or truck camper; price per week; mileage costs; airport pickup and drop off, if any; tow vehicle availability; deposit or security fees; and specific availability to accept international rental customers.
The companion piece to the directory, "Rental Ventures," tells consumers how to rent an RV and get the maximum enjoyment out of it. This is essential reading for the first time RVer or international rental customer.
Consumers may order the 1993-94 "Who's Who in RV Rentals" and "Rental Ventures" by calling 800-336-0355 and using their Visa or MasterCard. Or they may write a check for $7.50 ($6.50 for third class) made payable to RVRA, and send it to RVRA, 3251 Old Lee Highway, Suite 500, Fairfax, Va. 22030. Note: operators cannot provide specific information on rental locations over the phone.
