SERENA WILLIAMS said she was not a "robot" after her shock defeat to Angelique Kerber in the women's final yesterday.

The world No.1, who had won her last eight Grand Slam finals, made 46 unforced errors as she went down 6-4 3-6 6-4. Williams said: "Everyone expects me to win every single match, every single day of my life. As much as I would like to be a robot, I'm not."

Kerber won her first Grand Slam title after saving a match point in the first round. The new world No.2 (right) said: "Now I can say I am a Grand Slam champion - it is crazy. These have been the best two weeks of my life.
