SENATE CONFIRMS LINDA GILLESPIE STUNTZ AS DEPUTY SECRETARY OF ENERGY
 WASHINGTON, July 24 /PRNewswire/ -- The United States Senate today confirmed by voice vote the nomination of Linda Gillespie Stuntz as deputy secretary of energy. President Bush announced that she would be his nominee for the position on April 20.
 Stuntz, a native of Bellefontaine, Ohio, has served as the acting deputy secretary since Jan. 31, 1992. She received unanimous approval (19-0) of the Senate Energy and Natural Resources Committee on May 13.
 Prior to her appointment as acting deputy secretary, Stuntz held a number of positions at the Department of Energy, including acting assistant secretary for domestic and international energy policy, deputy under secretary for policy, planning and analysis, and acting assistant secretary for fossil energy. She served as a principal advisor to the secretary and the deputy secretary on national energy policy, and played a key role in the development of the administration's National Energy Strategy, released in February 1991.
