SEN. SPECTER ANNOUNCES A $2.6 MILLION GRANT TO PENNSYLVANIA
 FOR ASSISTANCE TO CRIME VICTIMS
WASHINGTON, May 27 /PRNewswire/ -- U.S. Sen. Arlen Specter (R-Pa.) today announced that the U.S. Department of Justice has awarded a $2,623,000 grant to the Pennsylvania Commission on Crime and Delinquency.
Specter said the grant, which is funded by the FY 92 Crime Victims Fund, will be used by the commonwealth of Pennsylvania to fund a variety of programs at the state and local levels to assist crime victims. These programs provide assistance such as direct counseling services and training programs for personnel who assist crime victims.
"I feel this grant will better enable the commonwealth of Pennsylvania to support the needs of our crime victims. It is imperative that we support programs that provide direct counseling and assistance to victims as well as training personnel to identify and treat the needs of victims in a more compassionate manner," Specter said in announcing the grant.
