 SEMINOLE PIPELINE TO EXPAND
 TULSA, Okla., Dec. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- Seminole Pipeline Company


announced plans to expand its Gaines, Texas to Mont Belvieu, Texas pipeline system. The expansion consists of an additional 535-mile, 14-inch pipeline from West Texas to Mont Belvieu, increasing capacity of the Seminole Pipeline system to over 300,000 barrels of natural gas liquids per day. The expansion is expected to be completed by the first quarter of 1993.
 The announcement was made by the Seminole Pipeline Company executive committee of the board of directors, and the expansion is subject to ratification by the company's stockholders. MAPCO Inc. (NYSE: MDA) of Tulsa, is 80 percent owner and operator of the system.
 The announcement noted that the present system, which has a capacity of 140,000 barrels natural gas liquids per day, has been essentially at capacity since the first half of 1990. The original Seminole Pipeline system was built in late 1981.
 MAPCO is a diverse energy company whose business is conducted by four operating subsidiaries: MAPCO Coal produces and markets bituminous steam and metallurgical coal; MAPCO Gas Product produces and markets natural gas liquids and fertilizers; MAPCO Petroleum operates refineries and retail marketing networks through the Mid-South and Alaska Systems; and MAPCO Transportation operates natural gas liquids and ammonia pipelines, and fractionation and storage facilities.
