 SEMINOLE PIPELINE RESUMES OPERATIONS
TULSA, Okla., April 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Seminole Pipeline Company has

announced that the Seminole Pipeline resumed operations at approximately 8 a.m. CDT today. The pipeline had been shut down as a precaution following an explosion near the company's underground storage facility near Brenham, Texas. The company expects the line to be operating at capacity by early afternoon.
Seminole Pipeline, which is 80 percent owned and operated by a subsidiary of Mapco Inc. (NYSE: MDA), has 740 miles of pipeline, predominately 14 inches in diameter, extending from Hobbs Station in west Texas to the Mont Belvieu terminal on the Texas Gulf Coast near Houston, together with related pumping, metering and storage facilities.
Cause of the explosion near Brenham has not been determined. Seminole officials said indications are that there is no damage to the storage cavern which has a capacity of 350,000 barrels. The cavern automatically shut down when indications of hazardous gas were received prior to the explosion on Tuesday morning, April 7. They indicated that the storage cavern could be back in operation within three to four weeks following clearance from the Railroad Commission of Texas.
Seminole is cooperating with federal, state and local authorities who are investigating the accident.
Robert M. Howe, director of Seminole Pipeline Company and president and chief operating officer of Mapco Inc. said, "We are concerned about the people affected by this accident and are working closely with the local Red Cross chapter to provide immediate assistance to those in need."
