SEMINOLE FERTILIZER APPOINTS ANTHONY GERARD, CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

STAMFORD, Conn., March 5 /PRNewswire/ -- Seminole Fertilizer Corporation announced today that Mr. Anthony Gerard has been appointed chief executive officer, replacing John J. Lee, who resigned. Seminole recently announced it has entered into an agreement to sell substantially all of its operating assets to Cargill Fertilizer, Inc.
Seminole further indicated that it is taking prompt action in the pre-closing period to implement cost cutting measures, including adjusting production levels to meet reduced market needs and giving its employees the 60 day notice of a plant closing required by government regulation. Seminole had previously indicated it was shutting down its half interest in the Fort Meade Chemical Products partnership, which is not included in the sale.
Also, in light of the anticipated sale, Mr. Steven L. Yurman, Seminole's president, announced he is resigning to pursue investment opportunities.
Seminole Fertilizer Corporation is a large U.S. manufacturer and international distributor of Diammonium Phosphate (DAP), the leading internationally traded phosphate fertilizer.
