SECOND IMPERIAL GEOTHERMAL CO. ANNOUNCES START-UP OF PLANT

 IMPERIAL VALLEY, Calif., June 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Second Imperial Geothermal Co. (SIGC) has begun start-up operation of its Second Imperial plant in the Heber Known Resource Area of Imperial Valley. On Friday, June 18, 1993, the first of 12 units at the plant was synchronized to the grid. As of June 22, 1993, two units were operating and producing 4.5 MW gross output. The 10 remaining units are scheduled to be commissioned over the next two weeks.
 "We are pleased with the progress being made at the Second Imperial Plant," said James W. Porter Jr., president and chief executive officer of OESI Power Corp. (NASDAQ: OESI), a general partner in SIGC. "The project has proceeded on schedule from its inception and we look forward to continuing that trend." Utility acceptance testing of the Second Imperial plant is anticipated for mid-July.
 The Second Imperial project is owned by SIGC, in which a subsidiary of OESI Power Corp. is a 74.999-percent general partner; Second Imperial Continental Co. is a 24.999-percent general partner; and General Electric Capital Corp., the construction lender, is a .002-percent limited partner.
