SEAVER TAKES THE MOUND FOR CHEMICAL

NEW YORK, April 20 /PRNewswire/ -- Tom Seaver's back on the mound -- pitching for Chemical Bank.
Chemical's Middle Market Group, the acknowledged leader in serving small and mid-sized companies in the tri-state region, today unveiled Hall of Famer Seaver as its spokesman.
"For the next three years, Chemical Bank's Middle Market Group will feature Tom Seaver in print and radio advertising, direct mail, sales promotions and at customer events as part of a consistent marketing program to increase awareness of Chemical's ability to help small businesses," said William H. Turner, senior executive vice president, Chemical Bank. "We know Tom will pitch a perfect game in the marketplace."
Seaver, who was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 1992 with the highest percentage of votes of any player in history, said he was "excited about pitching for a winner -- Chemical Bank, the market leader in serving small and mid-sized companies."
Chemical's new ad campaign will kick off with an eight-page insert in the New York City edition of The Wall Journal to support an upcoming "blitz" of small business prospects by the Middle Market Group's 1,000 calling officers. Media will include local daily newspapers, weekly business journals and radio. The ads will feature actual Chemical customers.
Sales promotion items include specially-designed Seaver baseball cards, a Seaver "Fotoball" and a limited number of autographed baseballs and pictures for prospective customers.
Seaver had 311 career wins and struck out 3,640 batters in 20 years played with the New York Mets, Cincinnati Reds, Chicago White Sox and Boston Red Sox. He won three Cy Young awards and was rookie of the year in 1967.
