SEASONED EXECUTIVES NEEDED AS RUSSIA MOVES TOWARDS CAPITALISM
LOS ANGELES, Oct. 16 /PRNewswire/ -- The key to Russia converting to a free market economy is to get firms running under experienced management as soon as possible, according to a leading executive search consultant addressing a recent UCLA seminar for Russian human resource managers.
"Executive search will have an expanded role in Russia and Eastern Europe as the privatization process goes forward," said Elliot Gordon, managing vice president of Korn/Ferry International. "In order to locate the most qualified candidates, it may be necessary to look outside Russia to Eastern and Western Europe and abroad, and an executive search firm offers the most efficient method to accomplish this task."
Gordon's presentation was part of a two-week seminar for personnel managers from mining and petrochemical firms throughout Russia, sponsored by the International Management Program at UCLA's Anderson Graduate School of Management. The seminar focused on issues of human resource management.
Korn/Ferry International has recently located and placed several top marketing, sales and finance executives in Russia for American- based firms such as the Coca-Cola Co. and PepsiCo Inc. and conducts searches for several corporations based in Eastern Europe.
Gordon took the Russian executives through the search process from the development of job specifications to the identification of the most qualified candidates.
"The Russians were surprised that our firm guarantees an executive placement for a year and were impressed with the extensive research capabilities we utilize to identify top quality executives worldwide," said Gordon.
"Globalization is more than just a buzz word, it is the way the world's most successful companies think and operate," Gordon added.
Headquartered in New York and Los Angeles, Korn/Ferry International specializes in management searches at the senior level. The firm maintains 16 offices in major U.S. cities, with a total of 42 offices worldwide in key business centers throughout North America, Latin America, Europe and Asia/Pacific.
