HOFFMAN ESTATES, Ill., Dec. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Sears Merchandise Group said today it will hold grand opening ceremonies for its newest freestanding hardware store in Cherry Hill, N.J., on Wednesday, Dec. 29.
The 21,900-square-foot store is located at 2005 Marlton Pike East.
"The Cherry Hill store will create 35 to 40 new jobs, while providing do-it-yourselfers and professionals in the area with a wide variety of hardware and related products and services," said Clint Winterhalter, district manager for Sears Hardware Stores.
The hardware store is Sears' eighth in the Greater Philadelphia area and its seventh in New Jersey. The others are Berlin (opened Dec. 1), Clementon, Glassboro and Turnersville in New Jersey, and Exton, Center Square and Trexlertown in Pennsylvania.
The grand opening will feature three "shopping sprees" for $600 worth of hardware store merchandise, including a $300, a $200 and a $100 spree, as well as special discounts and free gifts.
Among special features will be an "Answer Desk" staffed to answer questions about products and services offered by the store. Customer services available at the new store will include glass and screen repair for doors and windows, glass cutting, duplicate keys and lock rekeying, free water hardness analysis and exchange of propane tanks. For added customer convenience, shopping totes and carts will be available.
Designed to provide a warm, pleasant shopping environment for both men and women, the store will feature bold, colorful graphics and bright overhead lighting. The functional design of the store will include open roof trusses, concrete floors, and industrial-style fixtures.
"The Cherry Hill store will feature electrical, plumbing, hardware and automotive products, lawn and garden supplies and equipment, hand and power tools, painting and decorating supplies and equipment, and cleaning supplies," said Winterhalter. In addition, the store will have an outdoor sales area with seasonal products.
Sears Hardware Stores offer a full line of power tools featuring Craftsman, as well as models by Skil, Makita, Ryobi and DeWalt; plumbing products by Moen and Peerless; paint and decorating supplies by Dutch Boy, Olympic and Wagner; and lawn and garden equipment by Toro, Troy-Bilt, McCulloch and Homelite. In addition, the store will feature Sears well-known Craftsman hand and power tools and lawn and garden equipment, as well as Weatherbeater and Easy Living paints.
Nationwide, Sears is opening approximately 20 of the freestanding hardware stores this year. There are approximately 85 Sears freestanding hardware specialty stores in metropolitan areas to provide quality home improvement products and services for homeowners and professionals at convenient locations. The first store opened in suburban Chicago in 1983. The stores are in addition to approximately 800 Sears retail stores featuring Craftsman Home and Yard Centers located in regional malls and freestanding stores.
