 SEARS ELECTS MILES, LAMOTHE DIRECTORS
 CHICAGO, Sept. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Michael A. Miles, 53, chairman of


the board and chief executive officer of Philip Morris Companies Inc., and William E. LaMothe, 65, chairman emeritus of Kellogg Company, were elected directors of Sears, Roebuck and Co. by the company's board.
 Their terms are effective immediately and, under company by-laws, both directors will stand for re-election at the Sears 1993 annual meeting.
 "Michael Miles and William LaMothe bring a wealth of broad business and corporate experience in major consumer-focused companies which complements our board and which will serve our shareholders well," said Edward A. Brennan, Sears chairman and chief executive officer.
 Miles became chairman of Philip Morris in 1991 after serving as deputy chairman. He formerly was vice chairman of Philip Morris and chairman and chief executive officer of Kraft General Foods, Inc.
 Previously he was president and chief operating officer of Kraft General Foods. He joined Kraft, Inc. as president and chief operating officer in 1982. Miles came to Kraft from Heublein, Inc., where he held a variety of senior positions, including senior vice president of marketing for its Kentucky Fried Chicken unit.
 In addition to Philip Morris, Miles is a member of the board of directors of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society and the Grocery Manufacturers of America.
 LaMothe, who joined Kellogg in 1940 and spent his entire career with the company, became chairman emeritus of Kellogg when he retired from the company in January 1992. He continues to serve as a director.
 He was elected chairman in 1980, chief executive officer in 1979, and president in 1973. In 1965 he was appointed vice president of corporate development with responsibility over food research, process development, packaging development and corporate acquisitions.
 LaMothe also serves as a director of Kimberly-Clark Corp. and the Upjohn Company, chairman of the Council of Better Business Bureaus, Inc. and a member of the board of trustees of the W.K. Kellogg Foundation and a co-trustee of the W.K. Kellogg Foundation Trust.
