SEARS CUSTOMERS HELP 'E.T.' DONATE $250,000 TO CHARITIES
CHICAGO, Dec. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Sears customers are teaming up with

"E.T., The Extra-Terrestrial" this holiday season and to date have raised more than $250,000 for the Special Olympics and The Children's Action Network.
Thousands of children have hopped on bikes in "E.T." photo sets available at more than 800 Sears stores around the country to have their photo taken with "E.T." riding across the familiar moon background which has come to symbolize the largest grossing movie of all time. Sears sponsored the television premiere Thanksgiving night on CBS-TV which resulted in the highest ratings for any network movie in five years.
Cost for the photo is $2.50 with proceeds directed to the two charities which were designated by "E.T." director Stephen Spielberg as recipients of the fund-raising drive.
"The warm response to this effort shows that despite these difficult economic times people remember those in need and want to help," said Matt Howard, senior vice president of marketing at Sears.
The "E.T." photo set will remain in Sears stores throughout the holidays.
