 SEARS BUSINESS CENTERS WINS NAVY COMPUTER CONTRACT
 CHICAGO, Dec. 20 /PRNewswire/ -- The Department of the Navy has


selected Sears Business Centers to provide the armed forces with an estimated 75,000 laptop computers during the next three years.
 The contract, known as Lapheld II, will provide laptop computers for use by the military and other federal agencies for a variety of applications including logistics, communications and training.
 Sears Business Centers will team with Dauphin Technology Inc. as the primary hardware supplier, providing 16-bit notebook computers weighing less than seven pounds and 32-bit laptops weighing less than 16 pounds.
 Sears Business Centers will provide technical support, system maintenance and repair service on the computers for up to six years.
 Bill Lenahan, president of Sears Business Centers, called the agreement one of the largest laptop contracts awarded in history and welcomed the opportunity to work with the armed services. "We have undergone a demanding selection process and believe that we will provide an unprecedented level of service and support to the military services that will buy products under this agreement," said Lenahan.
 Sears Business Centers, a unit of Sears, Roebuck and Co., (NYSE: S) specializes in selling, servicing and supporting personal computers and peripherals, computer networks and telecommunications systems for corporations and government. The Sears Business Centers Federal Systems Group has responsibility for government systems integration contracts worldwide.
