 SEARS ANNOUNCES NEW MANAGEMENT ASSIGNMENTS
 CHICAGO, Jan. 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Sears, Roebuck and Co. today


announced new management assignments effective Feb. 1.
 Management responsibility for Western Auto Supply Company and Sears retail automotive group will be combined, reporting to John T. Lundegard, 60, chairman and chief executive officer of Western Auto.
 Lundegard will report to Forrest R. ''Woody'' Haselton, who recently was named president of retail for Sears.
 Reporting to Lundegard will be Albert F. Dombrowski, 54, who will become vice president, Sears Automotive, and John Leach, 48, who continues as president and chief operating officer of Western Auto.
 In other assignments announced today, Edward M. Liddy, who recently was promoted to senior vice president and chief financial officer of Sears, Roebuck and Co., from senior vice president, operating, Sears Merchandise Group, will retain responsibility for Sears Credit operations and the company's Mexican subsidiary.
 Alfred G. Goldstein, president, Sears Specialty Merchandising, who assumed additional responsibility for Sears Catalog and direct marketing businesses in 1991, also will now be responsible for Sears Canada Inc. and Sears Logistics Services, Inc. Sears Product Services will report to Haselton. These areas previously reported to Liddy.
 Sears said that Western Auto and its units and Sears Tire and Auto Centers will retain their independent marketing activities under their existing names.
 Sears Tire and Auto Centers provide key services for autos and light trucks at 875 locations in the U.S. and Puerto Rico. The centers are staffed by more than 32,000 sales and service associates and have 12,500 service bays. In 1991 Sears completed the national rollout of its new automotive power format.
 Sears purchased Western Auto and its subsidiaries -- Tire America and NTW Incorporated -- in 1988. The company operates 548 company-owned stores in 27 states, Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands. Additionally, Western Auto sells at wholesale to about 1,000 independently owned and operated dealer stores nationwide.
 Western Auto has 13,760 employees and will continue to be headquartered in Kansas City.
