SEARCHING HOPELESSLY FOR A CERTAIN TOY? LOOK IT UP IN THE TOYSAURUS -- AT TARGET

MINNEAPOLIS, Nov. 23 ~PRNewswire~ -- So your child wants a Shreddermobile, Little Oopsie or Magneto Magetron for Christmas. Where do you look?
If shopping at Target, you can look it up in a Toysaurus. The name "Toysaurus" was created to convey the idea of a book that helps a person find toys, much like a thesaurus helps one find words.
Toysaurus is a reference guide created by Target Stores that lists the names of the 500 most popular toys in Target's toy departments, the type of toy it is, and the aisle where it is located. Toy department employees across the country have these guides with them to quickly find the toys on customers' shopping lists. Introduced last Christmas, the Toysaurus provides immediate assistance to shoppers in search of toys on "Dear Santa" wish lists.
The toysaurus idea cam from Pat Daniels, consumer relations administrator for Target, who works in the stores to get feedback about how Target can better serve its customers.
"During the holidays, when our toy departments are the busiest, I noticed that many customers had trouble finding certain toys, especially those with unusual names," Daniels said. "I had customers asking me for toys I had never heard of and together we would wander around until we found them. I knew there had to be a quicker and easier way Target could help the shoppers."
Minneapolis-based Target Stores is an upscale discount retail chain of 508 stores in 32 states coast to coast and is the largest division of Dayton Hudson Corporation, one of the nation's leading retailers.
