SEAGULL ENERGY CORPORATION ANNOUNCES PROMOTIONS

 HOUSTON, Jan. 8 /PRNewswire/ -- Seagull Energy Corporation (NYSE: SGO) announced today that its board of directors has voted promotions for five of its corporate officers.
 John N. Goodpasture, formerly vice president, pipelines, was named senior vice president, marketing and pipelines. He remains president of Seagull Pipeline Company, a division of the parent company.
 T.P. (Tim) McConn, formerly vice president, exploration and production, was named senior vice president, exploration and production. He remains president of Seagull Energy E&P Inc., a subsidiary of the parent company.
 Rodney W. Bridges, formerly corporate controller, was named vice president and controller.
 Janice K. Hartrick, formerly chief counsel and assistant secretary, was named chief counsel, vice president, environmental affairs and assistant secretary.
 Robert M. King, formerly director, corporate development and treasurer, was named vice president, corporate development and treasurer.
 Goodpasture was named vice president, pipelines in March 1990, after 10 prior years of service as an officer in Seagull's pipeline operations management group. He holds a BS degree in mechanical engineering from Texas Tech University.
 McConn joined the company in 1988 as vice president of production operations. He was named vice president, exploration and production in early 1990. He holds a BS degree in petroleum engineering from the University of Texas.
 Bridges joined Seagull as corporate controller in 1990. He previously served for two years as corporate controller and for six years as chief accounting officer for two other energy companies. He holds a BBA degree from North Texas State University and is a C.P.A.
 Hartrick joined Seagull as staff counsel in 1987, then became chief counsel and assistant secretary in 1989. She previously served for 10 years in a variety of legal positions with several energy companies. She holds a BA degree from Rice University and JD degree from the University of Houston Law School.
 King joined the company as director, corporate development and treasurer in 1990 after serving for seven years as an officer with two major U.S. banks. He holds BA degrees in economics and political science and an MBA in finance from Southern Methodist University.
