SEAGULL ENABLES REALTIME WIRELESS ACCESS TO IBM MAINFRAME.

Seagull (AEX: SEAGULL) has introduced a strategic initiative to deliver real-time wireless access to IBM enterprise applications with Microsoft Windows-powered Pocket PCs. The initiative includes a rapid-deployment mobile computing solution based on Seagull's Wireless-to-Host technology, the Microsoft Windows 2000 platform, and the Pocket PC.

"Microsoft is committed to providing our customers with access to essential information any time, anywhere," said Doug Dedo, group product manager in the Mobile Devices Division at Microsoft Corp. "With Seagull's Wireless-to-Host Solution, IBM mainframe and AS/400 business applications can easily be deployed for real-time data access from Pocket PCs with a wireless modem. We are excited that with Seagull, Microsoft is now able to offer a wireless path to IBM's legacy applications and meet the time-critical needs of mobile business in the digital economy."

Seagull's Wireless-to-Host Solution connects IBM mainframe and AS/400 back office applications to the wireless Web, enabling real-time wireless access to business processes and content, anywhere, anytime from any wireless device. Wireless-to-Host Solution bridges the gap between IBM mainframe and AS/400 applications and the Windows 2000 Server platform by connecting the application business logic and transactions into the BizTalk environment and providing a path to wireless devices through Windows 2000.

"Seventy percent of today's back office data and the applications that process it still reside on host systems," said Don Addington, president and COO of Seagull. "Together with Microsoft, SEAGULL is helping organizations bring those mission-critical applications to the wired and wireless Web, consistent with Microsoft's recently announced '.NET' strategy that includes making software applications universally accessible through any device, at anytime, anywhere."

Seagull and Microsoft plan to promote the mobile computing solution to Microsoft's network of certified solution providers, as well as to customers directly. "We want to make people aware of how quickly and cost-effectively they can deliver wireless access to IBM business applications through Microsoft and Seagull technology," said Mr. Dedo.
