 NEW YORK, May 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Responding to consumer demands for


new and better choices of low-calorie beverages, The Seagram Beverage Company has developed 2 Calorie Quest, an adult, premium beverage that the company will begin test marketing in four cities in May.
 2 Calorie Quest is a totally different type of beverage that establishes a new category of drinks. The Seagram Beverage Company plans to obtain a special position in the adult soft drinks category with this new product.
 "2 Calorie Quest combines the beneficial aspects of several successful beverages into an innovation in refreshment," declared Mark Taxel, executive vice president, marketing of The Seagram Beverage Company. "Consumers who drink bottled water have told us in tests that they want a beverage with better taste. They are searching for bold, full-flavored refreshment without the calories. They also want a product that is more healthful than soda. 2 Calorie Quest is a clear, flavored sparkling spring water that has great taste, no caffeine and only two calories per serving."
 2 Calorie Quest, which has been in development by Seagram for two years, will be sold in Black Cherry, Raspberry and two proprietary flavors -- Peach Citrus and Tangerine Lime. A four-pack of 10-ounce bottles will retail for about $2.99 and a 23-ounce bottle for approximately $1.49. 2 Calorie Quest is sweetened with Nutrasweet and does not taste like a diet soda.
 Enhancing the sophisticated and innovative aspects of the beverage is the unique bottle and its packaging. The bottle, which has been designed to be "user friendly," has grooves near the base and is easy to hold. The carrier has a handle instead of finger holes like most other wraparound carriers.
 2 Calorie Quest will be launched in Atlanta; Sacramento, Calif.; Portland, Maine, and Columbus, Ohio. The television and radio advertising, beginning in June, will feature comedian Howie Mandel with the theme "Amazing Taste." Wells Rich Greene BDDP is the advertising agency.
 Seagram's Tropicana production facility in Bradenton, Fla., will produce 2 Calorie Quest.
