SEAGRAM ESTABLISHES OPERATIONS IN HUNGARY AND CZECHOSLOVAKIA
LONDON, Sept. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- Seagram Europe & Africa, a division of The Seagram Spirits And Wine Group, announced the formation of wholly owned marketing, sales and distribution operations in Hungary and Czechoslovakia.
Dr. Laszlo Gyory is named general manager of Seagram Hungary Kft. and is based in Budapest. Marek Holub is appointed general manager of Seagram spol. s.r.o. and is based in Prague. Both report directly to Heinz Schaller, area general manager - Central Europe, Seagram Europe & Africa.
In both countries, Seagram will market and distribute an extensive range of its premium international spirits and wine brands. The portfolios include Chivas Regal, the world's leading premium Scotch whisky, Martell Cognacs, Passport Scotch whisky, Mumm Champagnes, Four Roses Bourbon, Captain Morgan Rum, The Glenlivet Single Malt Whisky, Crown Royal Canadian Whisky, and Sandeman Ports and Sherries.
In addition, in-depth consumer research has been conducted to identify opportunities for brands new to these growth markets. As a result of this consumer research, Seagram will introduce Seagram's 7 Crown Whiskey and Blenders Pride Whisky into Hungary and Czechoslovakia. These Seagram brands will be positioned between premium local spirits and imported Scotch whisky.
A comprehensive program of consumer and trade promotions will introduce Seagram brands to consumers and enable the trade to maximize brand opportunities. To enhance trade and consumer knowledge of Seagram's key brands and categories, The Seagram School of Excellence, a series of educational seminars and tastings aimed at trade buyers, bartenders and sommeliers, will be introduced in both countries.
Speaking at the launch of Seagram Hungary Kft. in Budapest, Paul Breach, president of Seagram Europe & Africa, stated, "We believe that Hungary and Central Europe will provide substantial long-term growth opportunities for our brands. As in other parts of the world, we will invest in and develop creative marketing programs, to build strong consumer franchises for the future."
He continued, "Seagram prides itself on its level of customer service and this is our philosophy also in Hungary and Czechoslovakia as we build our team of local sales and marketing professionals. Our ultimate aim is to establish Seagram as the leading marketer and distributor of premium spirits and wine brands in the region."
