SCULLEY TO LEAVE APPLE, MARKKULA APPOINTED CHAIRMAN, GRAZIANO JOINS BOARD

 CUPERTINO, Calif., October 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Apple Computer Inc. (NASDAQ-NMS: AAPL) today announced that John Sculley has resigned his position as chairman of the company's board. In doing so, Sculley ends his employment at the company.
 A.C. (Mike) Markkula has been elected Apple's new chairman of the board. Apple's Chief Financial Officer, Joseph A. Graziano, has been elected to the board.
 "For the past 10 years, John Sculley has had one of the most compelling and articulate visions of how computing technology can improve the lives of people everywhere," Markkula said. "We are lucky to have had him leading the company during this time of incredible growth and expansion."

 Markkula, 51, was one of Apple's founders and its first chairman of the board, from 1977 to 1981. He has been vice chairman since 1981.
