SCT SIGNS SOFTWARE AND SERVICES CONTRACT WITH UNIVERSITY OF MEDICINE & DENTISTRY OF N.J.

MALVERN, Pa., July 23 /PRNewswire/ -- Systems & Computer Technology Corporation (SCT) (NASDAQ: SCTC) announced that it has signed the University of Medicine & Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ), Newark, N.J., to a 10-year, $50 million contract which includes SCT's OnSite computing services, its BANNER Series of administrative software, and its natural language query system which interfaces to BANNER.
UMDNJ is the nation's largest health sciences university, with seven schools and three health facilities (including the 518-bed University Hospital) in Newark, New Brunswick, Piscataway, Camden, and Stratford, N.J. The University has more than 3,000 students and 10,000 employees.
UMDNJ will outsource its computer operations and administrative application programming to SCT, including computer operations for the University Hospital. Similar to other "bundled services" agreements recently signed with institutions of higher learning, SCT will provide the University with a total administrative systems solution, pairing OnSite computing management services with four of the BANNER systems for higher education -- Student, Finance, Financial Aid, and Human Resources.
"Our current administrative computer systems are based on 1970s technology that is simply insufficient for today's needs," said Frederick J. Hammond Jr., UMDNJ's senior vice president, administration & finance. "We expect our new agreement with SCT to give us more reliable information, information that is easier to access and more efficient to use."
"We expect that the university's partnership with SCT will be good for both our systems and our people," commented A. Jerome York, associate vice president, Information Services & Technology at UMDNJ. "It is our intent to see UMDNJ in the vanguard of public research institutions utilizing advanced tools for administrative information management."
"SCT is proud to add the University to its roster of prestigious higher education clients," noted Michael J. Emmi, the company's chairman and chief executive officer. "We plan to help UMDNJ achieve even greater productivity and fulfill its mission to be increasingly responsive to its students, faculty, and staff."
The company is a leading provider of facilities management services and administrative application software in the U.S. higher education and local government markets, and has recently introduced a new product for the utility market.
