SCRIPTEL SIGNS PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT AND LICENSE AGREEMENT WITH APPLE COMPUTER, INC. COLUMBUS, Ohio, Nov. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- Scriptel Holding, Inc., (NASDAQ: SCRH) pioneer and manufacturer of digitizer components for pen-based products, announced today that it has signed a long-range agreement with Apple(R) Computer, Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL), to provide pen-input products and technology for future products to be developed by Apple. Specific details of the products being developed and the nature of the license were not made available. "The signing of this agreement with Apple supports our belief that Scriptel has an exceptional proprietary position in pen-input technology," said James W. France, Jr., president of Scriptel. "It has been very rewarding for the Scriptel team to work with Appple in finalizing what has been a lengthy engineering evaluation process." Scriptel has developed, manufactures and holds key patents to digitizer technology. Scriptel's transparent glass digitizer, stylus, and proprietary circuitry can be incorporated into electronic devices, which gives them the ability to be used as easily as pen and paper. "Scriptel's technology is considered to be one of the most promising in the development of pen-based products by several major companies in terms of technological advantage, flexibility, manufacturing process, and speed-to-market," said France. "We are extremely proud that Apple believes in our technology to enter into an agreement with Scriptel." "Scriptel has been innovating for almost 10 years in a technology area that has recently become of commercial importance," said Larry Tesler, Apple's vice president of Advanced Products Division. "Apple is very pleased to be able to license technology from Scriptel that offers us quality, performance, and value." Scriptel believes that its digitizer input technology is setting the standard as one of the most advanced domestic digitizer technologies for pen-based computing. Scriptel holds several key U.S. and international patents on this technology. The company is continuing to develop new products for the pen-based industry, and plans to introduce its cordless stylus and single-chip circuit implementation in 1992. Scriptel was founded in 1982 with the vision to develop and manufacture high-performance transparent digitizers for the pen computing industry. Only recently has the market begun to develop for Scriptel's pen-input products. Scriptel has been manufacturing transparent digitizers for medical, dental, and computer graphics applications since 1984. The company's products are sold to original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and value-added resellers (VARs). Scriptel's stock is traded on the Over-the-Counter market, and is quoted on the NASDAQ Bulletin Board Service under the symbol SCRH. -0- 11/25/91 /EDITOR'S NOTE: Apple and Apple logo are registered trademarks of Apple Computer, Inc./ /CONTACT: Brooke Cohan of Apple Computer, Inc., 408-974-3019, or David Eden of William Silverman and Company, 216-696-7750, for Scriptel Holding, Inc./ (SCRH APPL) CO: Scriptel Holding, Inc.; Apple Computer, Inc.
