 SCRIPPS MEMORIAL HOSPITALS BUSER AND BILLS ASSUME NEW ROLES
 SAN DIEGO, April 7 /PRNewswire/ -- Martin B. Buser was named executive vice president and chief operating officer of Scripps Memorial Hospitals today and Jeff K. Bills will become senior vice president and administrator of Scripps Memorial's La Jolla hospital, Buser's former position. Bills has been vice president, administrator of Scripps Memorial Hospital, Chula Vista.
 Lauren W. Blagg, president and chief executive officer of Scripps Memorial Hospitals made the announcement. According to Blagg: "Scripps is extremely fortunate to have individuals of Buser's and Bill's caliber to assume increased responsibility in the organization."
 Buser and Bills came to Scripps Memorial Hospital, La Jolla, in 1978, Buser as vice president for professional and support services and Bills as administrative assistant to the president.
 Buser became associate administrator in 1979 and senior vice president at La Jolla in 1983. Before joining Scripps, he was the associate director of Memorial Hospital of Glendale in Glendale, Calif., (1973-1978). In 1971, Buser received a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara, where he was named to the dean's list for Outstanding Scholastic Achievement. He received a master's degree in public health with an emphasis in hospital administration from the University of California, Los Angeles, in 1973. He is the chairman of the California Hospital Political Action Committee board of directors. He serves on the consultancy faculty of the San Diego State University Graduate School of Public Health. Buser is a member of the American College of Health Care Executives and a member of the board of the La Jolla YMCA. Buser and his wife Cyndi reside in San Diego. He has four children.
 Bills is returning to Scripps' La Jolla hospital. He became the La Jolla hospital's associate administrator in 1980. In 1986, he became vice president and administrator of SMH-Chula Vista, the hospital Scripps Memorial acquired from Bay Hospital Medical Center in June of that year. Bills studied at Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah, on a baseball scholarship in the early and mid-1970s, earning a bachelor of science degree. In 1978, he received a master's degree from Brigham Young's Marriot School, Program in Health Care Administration.
 He was administrative resident at Intermountain Health Care Inc., Salt Lake City, from 1977 to 1978. He is a member of the American College of Healthcare Executives. Bills is active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Brigham Young University Management Society and Alumni Association, the Scripps Ranch Civic Association and Chula Vista Rotary Club. Bills and his wife, Leigh Ann have three children and reside in Scripps Ranch.
 Both Buser and Bills have been recognized as "Emerging Leaders" by Healthcare Forum Magazine, the journal of the Association of Western Hospitals; Buser in 1985, and Bills in 1990.

 Thomas A. Gammiere, assistant administrator of Scripps Memorial, Chula Vista, becomes acting administrator of Scripps Memorial, Chula Vista. Gammiere has been with SMH-CV since 1987. He was vice president of support services at St. Benedicts Hospital, Ogden, Utah, from 1984 to 1987.
 Scripps Memorial Hospitals, one of Scripps Institutions of Medicine and Science, was established in 1924. Scripps is one of San Diego County's largest health care provider networks, serving the needs of residents through a family of four acute care not-for-profit community hospitals located in La Jolla, Encinitas and Chula Vista.
