SCREEN SINGER -- CREATIVE'S NEW VENTURE INTO CD-ROM TITLE PRODUCTION; SING ALONG WITH SCREEN SINGER WITH CD-QUALITY MUSIC AND COLOR GRAPHICS

SINGAPORE, Nov. 15 /PRNewswire/ -- Creative Technology Ltd, a leading provider of multimedia products, has released a series of Screen Singer karaoke CD-ROM titles designed for the whole family. Screen Singer is a sing-along software program that incorporates high resolution of 640X480, 256-color images, animation and professionally arranged CD-quality musical pieces. This new offering adds a new dimension to the fast expanding arena of PC home edutainment.
Creative is presently offering three sets -- Children's Melodies, Christmas Memories, and Folk Favorites -- each featuring 18 to 20 popular songs. Each Screen Singer contains two CD-ROMs, one featuring stereo music and the other
containing mono music and vocals. Lyrics are highlighted in real-time with the music so that the user may follow along to learn the songs. As each song is learned, vocals can also be toggled on and off with the easy-to-use control panel.
Screen Singer's songs are accompanied by stunning color images and animation that can also be used as musical screen savers when running Windows. In addition, many of the songs featured on Screen Singer provide background information about the song such as the songwriter and the time period in which it was written.
"Screen Singer provides the perfect medium for parents to introduce their children to the world of multimedia computing. The sound and animation in Screen Singer bring each song to life, allowing children to practice their singing and reading skills. The sing-along sessions are ideal for parties and family gatherings," said Arnold Waldstein, director of software product marketing for Creative Labs, Creative Technology's North American subsidiary.
Screen Singer can be run on DOS and Windows and can also be played as an audio CD. Creative has plans to offer future sets of Screen Singer CD-ROMs featuring popular songs, including top 40 hits, Broadway showtunes, country music, and oldies.
Each title, which consists of 2 CD-ROMs, has a suggested retail price of $39.95. A special introductory offer for the holiday season will be offered to Creative's retailers and distributors.
