SCRANTON CONTRACTOR TO PAY CONSUMER RESTITUTION AND COSTS
UNDER AGREEMENT WITH PENNSYLVANIA ATTORNEY GENERAL
HARRISBURG, Pa., Aug. 25 /PRNewswire/ -- A Scranton home-improvement contractor will pay $6,600 in consumer restitution and costs under an agreement with Attorney General Ernie Preate Jr.'s Bureau of Consumer Protection.
The agreement settles a suit filed in Lackawanna County Common Pleas Court last December by the bureau against Roy Gilgallon, who operates Good Cents Construction Co. from his home at 647 N. Sumner Ave.
The suit alleged that Gilgallon violated state law by doing shoddy and incomplete work for consumers.
Preate said that under terms of a consent petition filed today in Lackawanna County Court, Gilgallon will refund a total of $6,400 to three consumers and pay the state $200 in costs of investigation.
Gilgallon also promises to "refrain from any acts of practices" which violate the state's Unfair Trade Practices and Consumer Protection Law.
The settlement was negotiated by Deputy Attorney General J.P. McGowan, attorney-in-charge of the bureau's Scranton office.
