SCOTTS WINS YARD WASTE COMPOSTING CONTRACT

SCOTTS WINS YARD WASTE COMPOSTING CONTRACT
MARte services for Waukesha County, Wis. The company is currently

negotiating the final contract with the county and expects the site to be operational during the fourth quarter of 1992. Scotts has previously been awarded composting contracts in Ohio, North Carolina, and Washington.
The composting site is located at Scotts' existing Germantown, Wisconsin facility. The facility converts yard waste to a rich humus- like material to be recycled into the company's Hyponex-branded organic products.
Scotts is uniquely positioned to offer composting and recycling services to municipal and county governments. The combination of its long experience in composting and the only nationally distributed line of organic products is unmatched in the industry.
The award fits the company's long-term strategy to take advantage of its composting expertise and the increasing concern over landfill capacity by developing a program to compost yard waste. "We believe composting services represents a promising growth opportunity for Scotts," said company Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Tadd C. Seitz. "We recently organized a business group to pursue composting services contracts and now have a number of bids pending at locations across the nation," Seitz added.
Scotts offers "turn key" composting services, including design, construction, and operation of facilities according to strict environmental guidelines.
With sales of $388 million in fiscal year 1991, Scotts is the country's leading producer and marketer of consumer do-it-yourself lawn care and professional golf course turf care products. The company's Turf Builder products are the nation's most popular lawn care fertilizers and fertilizer/control combinations. The company's Hyponex products are the nation's leading line of organic products, including top soils, potting soils, composted manures and bark mulches.
