 Several Special Promotions Scheduled
with Live Performances by Artists on Album
SANTA MONICA, Calif., March 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Scotti Brothers Records announces the release of "Straight Outta Ireland," an album of music from Irish artists. The collection, in stores March 9, includes the familiar and unfamiliar, the signed and the unsigned; a compact showcase of the most innovative songwriters in Ireland today.
This eclectic compilation of contemporary music includes artists already familiar to American audiences -- Fatima Mansions, who contributed a previously unreleased track in the United States for the album titled "Valley of the Dead Cars," and The Would Be's, whose pop treasure "My Radio Sounds Different in the Dark," was encouraged by Morrissey.
Elvis Costello proteges The Men They Couldn't Hang ("You're the One") join two bands, The Golden Horde ("Endless Weekend") and The Spirit Merchants ("Birdland") who have released singles for U2-sponsored labels, Mother Records and Son Records, respectively.
Contributing unsigned bands to watch for in the future are The Young Dubliners, Katell Keineg, The Chanting House, Lir, Leslie Dowdall and Diesel Heart.
Several promotions and appearances have been scheduled for St. Patrick's day in honor of the album's release. Starting with The Young Dubliners, who will make an in-store appearance at the Rhino Records store (1720 Westwood Blvd.) in Los Angeles on March 16 from 7-9 p.m. They will then perform at Fair City Club (2020 Wilshire Blvd., Santa Monica) on the 17th. Over on the East Coast, The Chanting House & Katell Keineg will make in-store appearances at the HMV Record store in New York City, located on 86th Street and Lexington Avenue on Wednesday, March 17 from 3-5 p.m. Both will perform that same night at a "Straight Outta Ireland" release party at SOB's. A special performance by Lir at the SXSW Music Convention in Austin, Texas completes the St. Patrick's day festivities.
These 11 artists represent the spirit and excitement of new Irish music, comin' at ya -- "Straight Outta Ireland."
