SCOTTI BROS. SIGNS LOST CITY TO WORLDWIDE RECORDING CONTRACT

SANTA MONICA, Calif., Jan. 13 /PRNewswire/ -- Scotti Bros. Records has just signed U.K. act extraordinaire Lost City to a worldwide album deal. Their ground-breaking debut album, produced by Larry Hirsch (Elvis Costello, Los Lobos), is currently being mixed by hotbed music mogul Rick Parasher (Temple of the Dog, Pearl Jam).
Lost City is centered around the extremely talented partnership between drummer Kofi Baker (son of legendary Cream drummer Ginger Baker) and guitarist/singer Rue Phillips. With their limitless songwriting abilities, Phillips and Baker combine classic rock 'n' roll melodies with impressively complex rhythms, creating a unique sound that is both excitingly retrospective and refreshingly progressive.
The story behind the creation of Lost City is the start of a musician's who's who of rock 'n' roll. Several years ago while Phillips was recording with Ozzy Osbourne, Bill Ward, Carmine Appice and infamous Cream bassist Jack Bruce, Bruce introduced Phillips to his keyboard playing son Malcolm. When Phillips and Malcolm started working together, they found themselves in need of a drummer. Malcolm suggested Baker, a childhood friend and session musician who had just finished touring with Steve Marriott. The trio gave it a try and found they had a unique connection together.
When Lost City decided to relocate from England to San Diego, they found themselves spending a few years experiencing the natural and frequently exacerbating trials and tribulations of a young, upcoming band. Throughout these years Phillips and Baker developed their dynamic and oftentimes volatile relationship that gives Lost City its ebb and flow.
Following completion of the album, which features Phillips on lead guitar and vocals, Malcolm Bruce on keyboards and vocals and Baker's brilliant drumming, the band plans to start touring the United States. Lost City's debut album, tentatively titled "Watching You" is scheduled for February '93 release.
