SCOTLAND: WORKLINE.

GLASGOW is being considered by Swedish furniture company IKEA for one of its 20 new stores. The company hopes that its 10-year expansion programme, which would create 10,000 jobs, will double sales and cut prices by at least 20 per cent.

AEROSPACE giant BAE Systems is to cut 3,800 jobs, including 500 between shipyards in Glasgow and Cumbria, after last year's merger with Marconi.

. ABOUT 20 jobs are to be created in northern Scotland when an Inverness clothes and home retail store expands.

Matalan at Inshes Retail Park already employs 53 people and now plans to increase its existing 21,000 sq ft area to 36,000 sq ft.
