SCOTIABANK INCREASES GUARANTEED INVESTMENT CERTIFICATE (GIC) RATES
 TORONTO, Oct. 1 /CNW/ - Scotiabank today announced increases in interest rates paid to depositors in Scotiabank non-redeemable GICs. The new rates are effective Friday, October 2, 1992.
 The rates are changed as follows:
 - one-year increased 1.50 per cent to 5.50 per cent;
 - two-year increased 1.50 per cent to 6.00 per cent;
 - three-year increased one per cent to 6.25 per cent;
 - four-year increased three-quarters of one per cent to 6.50
 per cent;
 - five-year increased three-quarters of one per cent to 7.00
 per cent.
 Scotiabank GICs are issued by Scotia Mortgage Corporation and are unconditionally guaranteed by The Bank of Nova Scotia.
