SCNA Ethics Committee.

This has been a transitional year for the Ethics Committee. Penelope Chase retired this year after serving fifteen years on the Ethics Committee. Penelope's compassion for Ethics and commitment to SCNA led her to serve as Chair of the committee for the majority of these years. "Thanks you, Penelope," seems so small compared to her time, dedication and service to SCNA and nursing. Penelope leaves behind big shoes to be filled on the Ethics Committee. I'm sure all of you join with me in wishing Penelope a long, healthy and happy retirement as she and her husband relocate to Pennsylvania to be near children and grandchildren.

The Ethics Committee is committed to meet your educational needs related to Ethics and nursing practice. In order to identify some of these needs we are asking that you complete the accompanying Ethics Survey and return to SCNA by November 15th, 2006. The Ethics Committee will compute the results and use this information to guide us in selecting education topics to assist you in your nursing practice. We encourage each receiver of the SC Nurse to complete this survey.

My thanks to Gail Crawford, APRN, member of the Ethics Committee, who agreed to do the Ethics article for this issue of the SC Nurse.
