SCIENTIFIC-ATLANTA AND GENERAL INSTRUMENT SETTLE PATENT LITIGATION

 ATLANTA, Nov. 3 /PRNewswire/ -- Scientific-Atlanta, Inc. (NYSE: SFA) announced today that all outstanding patent litigation with General Instrument Corporation (NYSE: GIC) has been settled.
 The two companies have been involved in patent litigation in the federal courts in Newark, N.J.; Baltimore and San Diego.
 The patents at issue generally cover scrambling of cable and satellite television signals and impulse pay-per-view technology. The settlement provides for dismissal of the lawsuits and cross licensing of the patents at issue between the two companies. Other terms of the settlement will not be disclosed.
 Scientific-Atlanta, Inc. is a world leader in broadband communications systems, cable television electronics, satellite-based communications networks, and instrumentation for industrial, telecommunications and government applications.
