 SCHUMAN JOINS TENNECO AS VICE PRESIDENT, ORGANIZATIONAL RESOURCES
 HOUSTON, March 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Tenneco Inc. (NYSE: TGT) announced today that Barry R. Schuman has been named vice president, organizational resources, effective April 1.
 In his new position, Schuman will be responsible for corporate-wide organization and management development, succession planning, executive compensation, and benefits planning. In addition, he will oversee the human resources function at the Houston headquarters, including staffing, compensation, human resources information systems, benefits administration, and health and fitness. He will report to Kenneth L. Otto, senior vice president.
 Schuman, 50, joins Tenneco from Union Pacific Railroad, where he has been vice president of human resources at the company's Omaha, Neb., headquarters. Previously, Schuman was vice president of exchange programs at the Institute of International Education in New York. He has also served as executive director for the Latin American Scholarship Program of American Universities at Harvard University, as a representative and program officer with the Ford Foundation in Mexico City and New York, and as a housing and redevelopment official with the city of New Haven, Conn.
 Schuman earned his master's degree in public administration in 1967 from the Cornell University Graduate School of Business. He received his bachelor's degree in 1963 from Princeton University, Woodrow Wilson School of Public International Affairs.
 Tenneco is a diversified industrial company with major business interests in natural gas pipelines, farm and construction equipment, automotive parts, shipbuilding, packaging, and chemicals and minerals.
