SCHULLER CONTRACTS FOR RECYCLED MATERIAL FOR MANVILLE BRAND INSULATION
DENVER, Aug. 4 /PRNewswire/ -- Schuller International Inc., manufacturer of Manville-brand fiber glass insulation, announced today an exclusive multi-year contract with Pure Tech International Inc. (NASDAQ: PURT) to supply recycled glass cullet, material made from post-consumer container glass. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Pure Tech International will initially supply recycled glass to Schuller's Penbryn, N.J. plant.
"Schuller is leading the industry by using a high percentage of post-consumer recycled glass in its Manville fiber glass insulation," said Reed Larson, market and technical services manager, Schuller's Manville Building Insulation Division. "By using recycled glass in our insulation, we're delivering a quality product while easing the pressure on America's landfills."
Based in Somerset, N.J., Pure Tech International, with revenues of $15 million and seven recycling facilities in New Jersey, Connecticut, Michigan and Massachusetts, will produce up to 20,000 tons of glass cullet for Schuller each year. By removing contaminants, metals and ceramics, "Pure Tech will provide Schuller with glass cullet that meets the company's strict fiber glass manufacturing specifications," said Simon Sinnreich, chairman of Pure Tech.
Denver-based Schuller International manufactures fiber glass-based filtration, reinforcements, building products and Manville-brand insulation. The company employs approximately 7,500 people worldwide with 1991 annual sales in excess of $1 billion.
