 SCHILT NAMED VP AND GENERAL MANAGER OF ALBANY HERALD PUBLISHING
 ALBANY, Ga., July 3 /PRNewswire/ -- John Williams, president and CEO of Gray Communications Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: GCOM) (the "company") announced the hiring of Christian R. Schilt, 41, as the new vice president and general manager of The Albany Herald Publishing Co., Inc. (The Albany Herald), effective immediately. The Albany Herald is a subsidiary of the company. Geoffrey Gray, vice president, and Constance Gray Greene, corporate secretary, will remain co-publishers of the newspaper.
 Williams said, "We are very fortunate to attract someone of this caliber and talent who will help us realize the newspaper's potential in southwest Georgia." He also added, "Geoff Gray and Connie Greene will remain very important contributors to the newspaper's success with their guidance and dedication to The Herald."
 Schilt is the former president and chief executive officer of Harte- Hanks Community Newspapers in Dallas, Texas, publisher of a group of eight suburban newspapers. He previously has held management positions with the Bryan-College Station (TX) Eagle, The Nevada State Journal, Bradenton (FL) Herald and Boulder (CO) Daily Camera.
 Gray Communications Systems, Inc. is a holding company located in Albany, Ga., which in addition to operating The Albany Herald, operates three VHF television stations located in Albany, Ga, Panama City, Fla., and Monroe, La.; two warehouses and a fixed-base operation at the Albany airport.
