SCHILIT JOINS CHECK EXPRESS BOARD OF DIRECTORS

 TAMPA, Fla., Feb. 17 /PRNewswire/ -- Check Express, Inc. (NASDAQ: CHXS) owner, operator, and franchisor of retail check cashing centers, today announced that W. Keith Schilit has joined its board of directors.
 Schilit, who holds an MBA and Ph.D. in strategic planning from the University of Maryland, is an accomplished consultant, entrepreneur, best-selling author and lecturer and currently the director of the Program in Entrepreneurship at the University of South Florida (Tampa). He has served as a director of several corporations and community groups, is an internationally renowned expert in the area of managing fast-growth businesses and has written several books and dozens of articles on this subject. Schilit's most recent book, "BLUE CHIPS & HOT TIPS: Identifying Emerging Companies Most Likely to Succeed," was just named a co-recipient of the "Best Investment Book of the Year" by the 1993 Stock Trader's Almanac and was one of only seven books included as a Fidelity Investments selection.
