SCHERER AND CHESEBROUGH-POND'S JOINTLY DEVELOP A NEW SKIN MOISTURIZER CAPSULE

 TROY, Mich., April 16 /PRNewswire/ -- The North America division of R.P. Scherer announced today that it and Chesebrough-Pond's had jointly developed Chesebrough's recently launched Pond's(R) Dramatic Results(TM) Skin Smoothing Capsules with Nutrium(TM).
 The new product is targeted for the food, drug store and mass merchandiser classes of trade, the traditional distribution channels for the Pond's(R) product range. The launch is being supported by various promotional plans including a national television advertising campaign which began airing in March 1993.
 In elaborating on R.P. Scherer's role in the project, Herbert Hugill, president of R.P. Scherer North American business, indicated "the design concept and the skin smoothing formula were created by Chesebrough-Pond's while Scherer provided the technology and manufacturing capability to convert from concept to finished product." In addition to the cooperative activities between Chesebrough and Scherer to design and develop the new Pond's(R) product, R.P. Scherer also manufactures the product for Chesebrough using its unique softgel encapsulating process.
