SCE'S CUSTOMER TECHNOLOGY APPLICATION CENTER WINS CALIFORNIA COUNCIL ON PARTNERSHIPS' RED TAPE AWARD

IRWINDALE, Calif., March 26 /PRNewswire/ -- Southern California Edison's Customer Technology Application Center (CTAC), was one of three programs awarded the California Council on Partnerships' Red Tape Project award. The award is given to programs for streamlining the local government regulatory process while still meeting critical standards for environmental protection.
The CTAC program was recognized for providing information and demonstrations on existing and emerging technologies that can help its customers with energy efficiency, environmental and economic issues. Its program incorporates the greatest variety of commercially available electric technologies, and helps large industrial customers comply with air quality rules and save money by becoming more energy efficient.
CTAC is the largest demonstration site for technology transfer in the West and has hosted more than 65,000 visitors since its opening in 1990.
The California Council on Partnerships is a group of local government and business leaders established by the California State Association of Counties to resolve community problems. The council created the Red Tape Project in June of 1992 to encourage job retention and desirable business expansion.
The Stanislaus County Streamlining Hazardous Materials Regulations and the San Bernardino County Department Review Applications programs were also given awards at a ceremony earlier this month.
