SCARY STORIES [...].
SCARY STORIES TO TELL IN THE DARK (15) HHH HH OLD-SCHOOL camp-fire horror tales are the name of the game for this busy, chilling and gently spooky film based on a series of 80s ghoulish folk legend collections by Alvin Schwartz.
Set against the backdrop of the 1968 presidential election (cue political as well as genre references) in the town of Mill Valley, Pennsylvania, three high-school outcasts - would-be writer Stella (Zoe Margaret Colletti), shy and gangly Auggie (Gabriel Rush) and feisty Chuck (Austin Zajur) - team with drifter Ramon (Michael Garza) to escape a gang of drunk jocks, but end up hiding in a spooky abandoned house, once the home of a supposed child-murderer/ writer named Sarah Bellows.
Before you can say "behind you", tales written in blood come to life, with "scary stories", including a terrifying scarecrow, a severed head and a nasty spider attack - leading the kids to investigate the truth behind the legend of Sarah as they seek a way to halt the evil that is following them.
