SCANNING MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS ANNOUNCES DEALER PROGRAM
CANOGA PARK, Calif., Dec. 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Scanning Management

Systems ("Scanning") today announced a formalized dealer program, providing software, marketing assistance, and pre-sales and post- sales support for the Scanning Pos Plus (TM) application software. Based on successful pilots of the program, Scanning anticipates increased sales of the IBM 4680 supermarket systems with Scanning Pos Plus software through dealer organizations during the remainder of 1991 and beyond.
"The dealer network, which augments our direct sales organization for certain kinds of accounts already includes Automated Retail Systems (ARS) based in Seattle, Century Data Systems, an eastern seaboard company, Advanced Retail Systems (ARS) in New Jersey, and the most recent member of the dealer sales team, Southern Tier Cash Register (STCR) which covers everything in New York state other than Manhattan, plus Pennsylvania," said William N. Alex, Scanning national director of sales. "We also plan to have a dealer signed to cover the Midwestern part of the United States before the close of 1991," Alex noted.
"Our dealer program has been very successful this year. For example, some of our most recent supermarket sales successes include: Consumer's Choice/ARS Seattle; three independent KeyFood Stores/ARS New Jersey; and Miggy's Sure Save, Tandem Inc., and M & G Markets brought to us by STCR, plus there is a flurry of activity going on and we're very close to some additional wins," Alex further commented.
In early September, Scanning hosted a training seminar on the east coast for technical and sales personnel from their dealer organizations. The three-day seminar provided attendees hands-on experience in the installation and set-up of Scanning's Pos Plus modules on the IBM 4680 store controller. An aggressive dealer marketing strategy for the remainder of 1991 and the coming year was also a key agenda subject.
