SC registers 86 suo moto notices in last three years, 33 still pending, Senate told.

ISLAMABAD -- The Supreme Court of Pakistan has registered a total of 86 suo moto notices against various issues in last three years, Minister for Law and Justice Farooq H Naek said Tuesday.

In a written reply to the question of Karim Ahmad Khawaja, he said 53 cases have already been disposed of while 33 cases are still pending.

Giving breakup, he said two suo moto notices were registered in 2008, 28 in 2009, 27 in 2010, 20 in 2011 and 9 in 2012. Regarding pending suo moto notices, he said 33 suo moto notices of last three years are still pending in the SC including one of 2008, 9 of 2009, 8 of 2010, 9 of 2011, 6 of 2012.

Giving details of human right cases pending in the SC he said 16,331 HR cases of 2012 are still pending, while 16270 cases of 2011 are pending, 14906 cases of 2010, 6784 of 2009 are still pending with the SC.

The SC had disposed of 81 HR cases in 2008, 3095 in 2009, 51756 in 2010, 47024 in 20111 and 33798 HR cases had been disposed of in 2012.
