SC State faculty donate $1,000 in sponsored research awards to SCJAS and SCAS.

Twenty SC State faculty members contributed more than a total of $1,000 in sponsored research awards to the South Carolina Junior Academy of Science (SCJAS) for the 2012 Annual Meeting. Dr. Judith Salley who led and coordinated the fund-raising effort said, "Our faculty wanted to make this contribution to continue to support research efforts among high school students in South Carolina. We all need to pitch in and try to make a difference."

Mrs. Tammy Taylor, SCJAS Program Director, said," This was an incredibly generous gesture on the part of the SC State faculty. Five years ago SCJAS lost all state funding and since that time we have struggled to continue funding our programs and awards." The award recipients are listed on page 4. SCJAS wishes to recognize and thank the following individuals and the respective topical categories funded:
